you've ever wanted to learn how to be a stand-up
comedian, The Comedy
Club offers a class taught by
two of Rochester's most successful homegrown comics, Ralph
Tetta and Steve Burr! With
over 40 years of experience between them they're just the
guys to help
you get started on your new career and their three-week course will cover all the essentials you'll need
from stage presence and writing to the business side of
comedy. Each class you attend is just $50 and you
and you can mix and match from any of the dates listed
below.

Synopsis
of Class Content
Writing
Clinic - The Writing Clinic
will be a three-hour instructional class centering
on finding comedic premises from everyday life and
developing them into comedic monologues. The class will
teach joke structure, organizing material into a stand-up
comedy routine and targeted joke writing.
Discussions about storytelling style, appropriateness of
material and ad-libbing will also be included. Cost
is $50 per person for the session with materials
included. Students should come prepared with a
notebook and writing instrument.
Performance/Improv
Clinic - The Performance/Improv clinic ill be a
three-hour instructional class centering on the
performance of stand-up comedy and the elements of
improvisational comedy and working with other
performers. The class will teach technique,
performance tips, and elements of both acting and public
speaking as they apply to the stand-up comedy and improv
comedy formats. Cost is $50 per person for the
session with materials included. Students should
come prepared with a notebook and writing instrument and
be dressed in comfortable clothing and ready to move
around on stage.
Business
of Comedy Clinic - The Business of Comedy Clinic
will be a three-hour instructional class centering on the
business aspect of stand-up comedy. Topics that will
be discussed will include making money in comedy, getting
the gig, developing promotional materials to present to
prospective employers, networking and using social media
to promote one’s self to the market. Cracking the
club, college, corporate and TV markets will also be
discussed. Cost is $50 per person for the session
with materials included. Students should come
prepared with a notebook and writing instrument.
