Have you ever been watching a comedian on TV and thought to yourself, "I could do that"?

Well, stop thinking about it and start doing it.  Every comedian got their start by going to an open mic night somewhere, so if you think you have what it takes to be the next big name in stand-up come on out and prove it by signing up for Steve Burr's Open Mic!

Here's everything you need to know...

The next open mic is scheduled for Wednesday, November 17 and spots usually fill up quick so it's important to sign-up in advance.  You can do that by e-mailing your name and phone number to  steve@thecomedyclub.us.

As soon as your request is received, he'll e-mail you back to let you know whether he's able to put you on the night you asked for, if not your name will be added to the waiting list for the next available date and you'll be notified via e-mail when that is.  Upcoming open mic dates can be found on the schedule page.

After that it's all up to you, so here's what's next...

First, come prepared with 5 minutes of your best material, don't try to wing it, this is harder than it looks.

Second, make sure you stick to your time, this is VERY important in the comedy business and the now is when you want to start developing good habits.  Every club has a light that tells you when your time is almost up, when it comes on try to wrap things up in the next 30 seconds.

Third, you'll need to be at the club by 7:00 PM for the pre-show meeting.  This is required so numbers can be drawn to determine the order and to make sure everybody is on the same page of the book as to how things are going to work.

Last but not least, promote your appearance to family, friends and anybody else you think might be interested in seeing you do your thing on stage.  Admission to these shows is only $5.00 and each one features a professional headliner to close things out so spread the word!  It's important that you do your best to bring people because comedy without an audience isn't comedy, it's bad poetry or something like that.

So there you have it, everything you need to know to get started on your new career!
